The Legend has arrived.

This evening the Horseshoe Casino was having their grand opening. We don't really care
much about casinos. Or gambling. But hey, different strokes for different folks, right? I
don't judge. What we were interested in is that there is a Bobby's Burger Palace inside
the casino. BBP is owned by celebrity chef, Bobby Flay. We love all of his cooking shows
on Food Network. And... Bobby Flay was going to be at his newest BBP for the big grand
opening! Living just four blocks from the new casino, we decided to walk over, check it
out the opening, get a couple of burgers and maybe see Bobby Flay. What's odd about this
opening is that it's taking place at 8:30pm. And they were expecting around 40,000 people
for the pre-opening celebration. Some people just can't wait to have their money taken
from them, can they? I still don't judge. And when we arrived, there were a lot of people
but definitely not 40,000...

Mayor Mallory was on hand to open the doors...

And then the fireworks started...












After about 25 minutes of fireworks and 10 minutes of trying to circumnavigating
the massive line to get in to the casino...


Once inside, we immediately tracked down Bobby's Burger Palace...


There was a bit of a line to order burgers...

But we lucked out and found two seats at their little bar...




And while we sitting there, Bobby Flay came over to do an interview!


How cool was that? We saw Bobby Flay!!! Then we ordered a couple of burgers and some fries...

Genifer ordered the Santa Fe burger, and I ordered Crunchburger...

The Crunchburger had double American cheese and potato chips... on the burger! BBP's
burgers are delicious! And really very reasonable! My burger was just $6.75, Genifer's
was $7.50 and our huge side of fries was only $3! When we were done eating, we went
to see if we could get a photo with Bobby Flay...

But as we headed over towards him, he disappeared into the kitchen and he never
reemerged. So we didn't get to snap a photo with Bobby. But it was still awesome
to get to see him. And our first experience at BBP was pretty amazing!

All and all, it was mission accomplished at the grand opening of Horseshoe Casino!
And we didn't even lose any of our money. :)

Every month, we've been getting vouchers in the mail from Horseshoe Casino. The
vouchers have always been $10 in free slots play, which is kind of cool. But not really
worth our time to walk up to the casino just to play their $10 and leave. In November's
mailing, the sent us $20 in free slot play per week. Alright. Now we're talking...

So this afternoon was really pretty outside, what better place to spend it than a place
without any windows? Off to the casino we go...

But first, Bobby's Burger Palace for a burger. You can't gamble on an empty stomach...

We shared the burger of the month, the Pacific Northwest Burger: White American Cheese,
Cremini Mushrooms, Red Wine BBQ Sauce. Delicious burger...

We also shared some of their amazing onion rings...

These are damn near actual size. After we were done at BBP, we hit up the slots. We
didn't break the bank. We're not going to retire off this. Or Buy ourselves a private island
or anything. But we did parlay our $20 free voucher into $26.90 cash money...

Our goal going in was to walk with enough money to get ourselves a full slab of delicious
Moerlein Lager House ribs sometime next week. Mission accomplished. After we ran ran
out of free gambling money, we had a drink in the casino's Rock Bar...

There was a really great acoustic band, Floyd and the Walkmen in there performing...


It was a fun evening. And thanks to our BBP rewards card, our next burger is free!
We also have three more $20 vouchers for free slot play to use this month. Chances
are you'll be seeing a couple more posts just like this over the next couple weeks.

BBP's Burger of the Month.

This evening we walked up to Horseshoe Casino to try the new Burger of the Month
at Bobby's Burger Palace, Canadian Burger. Let's see what this is all aboot, eh?


It was a really good burger. It wasn't the near perfection that was our all-time favorite BOTM,
Pacific Northwest Burger. But still a really very good burger! And we earned enough points
with this trip to get our next BBP burger for free! Afterwards, we lost a whooping $14 on
the slots. And saw a couple of Vegas-style showgirls...

The casino always makes for a very entertaining evening. :)

Getting rich quick.

After we were done eating at BBP, we pumped $5 into a 2¢ slot machine for some fun...



And we turned that $5 into $86!


We called it quits while we were still ahead...

And we were way ahead! Awesome. :)

Horseshoe Sunday.

This afternoon we wandered up to the casino before the Michigan-Kentucky game...

We had a free burger at Bobby's Burger Palace...

We decided to share their Burger of the Month for March...


It was delicious. And it was free! We had earned another free BBP burger through their
rewards program. It's pretty cool to be able to get a free burger every now and then. All
their BOTM's that we have tried have all been pretty amazing! We also had a voucher for
$10 in free slots play. And we quickly turned that into $10.30 in cold hard cash...

And then we added another ten whole cents...

And that quickly evaporated into just 17 cents. REALLY quickly...

Yep. Here are the winnings we ended up walking out of the the casino with...
